Student Engagement Committee – Chair: Jessica Shaw (jfs6988@psu.edu)
The Student Engagement Committee coordinates social, service, involvement, and educational events and programs for the benefit of the graduate and professional community. Its mission is to provide programs, initiatives, and service opportunities that promote the sense of community and engagement, both within the graduate and professional student and with the State College and Penn State community at large.
Climate Action Subcommittee – Chair: Musa Mohammed (mmm8407@psu.edu)
The Climate Action Subcommittee is a part of the Student Engagement Committee, and is responsible for fulfilling the GPSA’s mission as it relates to promoting sustainability initiatives, educating the student body about climate change, and working with the University administration and other student bodies to achieve a more sustainable future as outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Professional Development Committee – Chair: Nusrat Tabassum (nqt5207@psu.edu)
The Professional Development Committee develops programs and seminars aimed at promoting professional and job related opportunities for graduate and professional students and coordinates with various relevant offices and organizations at Penn State as necessary.
Advocacy and Diversity Committee – Chair: Katrina Bakhl (kpb5838@psu.edu)
The Advocacy and Diversity Committee is tasked with fulfilling GPSA’s mission as it relates to improving the graduate and professional student body by advocating for policies or initiatives to outside parties within the university and in the community. This includes addressing student concerns and promoting diversity.
Internal Development Committee – Chair: Marvellous Faluyi (mof5328@psu.edu)
The Internal Development Committee keeps records of all legislation brought before the Assembly. At the direction of the Executive Board or Assembly, the Internal Development committee may also be charged with drafting amendments to the Constitution or Bylaws of the Graduate and Professional Student Association and improving its policies and procedures.
